Will Your Dynamics 365 CRM Workflows Stop Working Soon?
Microsoft recommends the new workflows for Dynamics 365 be developed in Power Automate rather than using classical workflows.
But will this become a requirement in the next few years?
Microsoft recently announced that SharePoint 2010 Workflows are retiring soon.
Until now, SharePoint 2010 workflows could be created and run on all versions of SharePoint (including Microsoft 365 / SharePoint Online). So this retirement potentially impacts many customers who have migrated from SharePoint On-Premises to SharePoint Online.

What Does This Mean for Dynamics 365 Customers?
We can’t say for sure, but if Microsoft follows the same pattern, it seems likely that Dynamics 365/CRM workflows may be retired in the future, too.
If so, customers will need to migrate their workflows to Power Automate before the retirement process has completed.
For SharePoint, the notification was released about five months before the retirement was scheduled to complete, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to migrate, test, and put workflows back into production.
Bottom line: Evaluate your Dynamics 365 workflows today and establish a plan for migrating them to Power Automate.
Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement On-Premise Customers
If you are still using Dynamics 365 CE on-premises, then you will likely have more time to migrate your workflows (Microsoft is supporting SharePoint 2010 Workflows on-premise until 2026).
Now is the time to create your new workflows using Power Automate and develop a roadmap to migrate your existing workflows; especially if you want to be “online-ready” so you can easily migrate in the future.
