How to Paste a Picture into Microsoft Teams

When you’re using Microsoft Teams, sometimes your pictures paste directly into a post (such as copying an image off of a website and pasting it into Teams). Other times, try as you may, the picture just won’t paste!

Images not pasting is likely a bug that will be remedied at some point. In the meantime, what can you do other than restarting your PC, which doesn’t always work?

Solved: How Do I Paste an Image in Microsoft Teams?

Step 1: Save the picture to your local hard drive.

Step 2: In your post, click the “Attach” button to browse and find your file.

Step 3: Select the image you want to upload from your computer. You’ll see a reference to the file name, but have no fears – this will turn into the image once you save your post.

Step 4: Finish entering your post with comments as you usually would, then send it off to your Team!

Voila! The picture shows up in your post.

Behind the scenes, the picture was also saved to the “Files” tab for the Microsoft Team.

A few things to note:

  • You can now delete the file from your hard drive if you don’t need it there anymore.
  • Do NOT delete the file from MS Teams or it won’t show up in the feed anymore.
  • You may be thinking, “why don’t I just save it to MS Teams to start with?” If you did that and clicked the attach button to put it into the post, it would only show a link instead of the picture.

You’re all set!
